New parliamentary session/ Begaj, appeal to MPs: Support the institutions of

In a message addressed to the Assembly of Albania on the occasion of the opening of the new session, the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, calls on the deputies to focus on Albania's membership in the European Union, as well as on the fight against crime and corruption.

Begaj demanded that the political parties engage in a fruitful dialogue and in legal initiatives based on the citizens' concerns.

"We must ensure that any law that is adopted is in accordance with the interests of citizens and with the highest democratic standards. This requires joint commitment and continuous efforts to ensure that the Assembly is always committed and fulfills the role of his supervisor, to guarantee the balance of powers, as well as to protect the interests of the people", says President Begaj in his message to the Assembly.

At a time when this legislature is coming to an end and the electoral year is approaching, the President of the Republic assesses that the deputies must responsibly exercise their mandate in this direction, since, according to him, "the moment is approaching to weigh the achievements and successes, shortcomings and failures, to evaluate oneself, but also to be evaluated by the public.

"In this new September, the parliamentary image and performance are both desired and necessary for our Assembly to be an inspiring arena of civic confrontation, where different voices are included in a fruitful dialogue", says the President of the Republic.

Throughout the process of membership in the European Union, Begaj emphasizes that the deputies must fulfill in time the legal measures included in the National Integration Plan.

Also, another priority issue, according to Begaj, is the fight against crime and corruption, for which the Head of State expressed that he encourages the Assembly to promote the anti-crime and anti-corruption policy as a real confrontation with an evil that we must fight at every level of every field of this corrosive phenomenon for the economy and threatening for democracy.

In this regard, President Begaj asked the deputies to support the institutions of justice and law enforcement agencies by strengthening their financial, human and infrastructural capacities.

Regarding the new global challenges that affect security issues, or social-cultural ones, President Begaj emphasized the need to update strategies and legal frameworks to adapt to geopolitical changes and rapid technological developments.

Begaj ends his message to the Assembly by saying:

"In these times when the sacrifices of the generations are returning to support the new generations, turning the various global and regional challenges into opportunities for our country, it is imperative that the parliament becomes the main ally of our country's progress.
