Hate speech on "BBV 4"/ AMA Director in harsh tones: Violation of

AMA Director Armela Krasniqi has reacted harshly to the discriminatory and hateful language in the reality show Big Brother Vip 4, which is broadcast for free on DigitAlb.

The director of AMA emphasizes that the situation created in this reality show is worrying.

Krasniqi has strongly condemned the use of discriminatory, hateful and divisive language used by one of the residents, moreover a well-known figure, against another resident.

The AMA director underlines that this type of language violates human rights and leads to violence.

Krasniqi writes that, since the beginning of the broadcast of this format, the responsible structures at AMA have been in constant communication with both OSHMA, as well as with the platform and production, making the public's concerns known, and action has been taken in cases where violations of the provisions of the Law or Code have been ascertained.

AMA will continue monitoring audiovisual broadcasts, identifying and reviewing any cases of non-compliance with the requirements of the law, "On Audiovisual Media in the Republic of Albania", as amended, and the Broadcasting Code, as well as addressing them to the relevant OSHMA.

Reaction of the director of AMA, Armela Krasniqi

I have followed with concern the situation created late at night, on the show "Big Brother VIP 4", broadcast on the paid platform DigitAlb. By strongly condemning the use of discriminatory, hateful and divisive language, used by one of the residents - moreover a well-known person - against another resident, I remind the OSHMA in question, but also every other operator that, hate speech, language that incites discrimination, not only violates human rights, but also brings violence.

I welcome the reaction of the BBV 4 production, in the form of excluding the author of this speech. I consider it an act of responsibility, not only ethical, but also towards the obligations that audiovisual content of all genres has towards the legal and sub-legal provisions that regulate audiovisual broadcasts in the Republic of Albania.

Since the beginning of the broadcast of this format, the responsible structures at AMA have been in constant communication with both OSHMA, as well as with the platform and production, making the public's concerns known, and action has been taken in cases where violations of the provisions of the Law or Code have been ascertained.

Our expectation matches the expectations of the general public for respect for human dignity and ethical and professional standards of audiovisual broadcasting.

VO: Two very personal words. I feel even more touched, as a Kosovo bride and mother of two Kosovo grandchildren. Such speeches, such ugly insults, are nothing more than dangerous divisive actions that are unbecoming of an Albanian!/ CNA
