A special event took place at the Vatican, where Pope Francis held a General Audience before 100 Albanian students and academics from various universities in Albania and Italy, such as: University of Tirana, “Our Lady of Good Counsel” University, University of Medicine Tirana, “Mediterranean” University, University of Perugia Studies, “La Sapieza” University, Italy, and “Roma Tree” University, Italy, thus further strengthening the cultural and educational connection between Albania and the Holy See.

Also present at this General Audience were the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Igli Hasani, together with the Minister of Education and Sports, Mr. Ogerta Manastirliu. During the General Audience, Pope Francis emphasized the importance of human values ??and the common commitment to promoting peace, justice and fraternity.

After the General Audience, the Holy Father Francis greeted the Albanian ministers with the delegations, students and academics present. The participants also passed through the Holy Door, which opens once every 50 years. The Holy See has declared 2025 as a Jubilee Year. According to biblical tradition, a Jubilee Year is a special year of universal forgiveness.

At the Vatican, Minister Hasani and Minister Manastirliu also held a meeting with His Excellency, Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations. During this meeting, the parties focused on the excellent relations that exist between Albania and the Holy See, as well as the joint commitment to further progress these relations.

The two ministers also met with Albanian students and academics from Albanian and Italian universities. In his welcoming speech, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Igli Hasani, praised the role of youth as the country's greatest resource for the present and the future. 

"History offers us a valuable lesson: those nations that know how to unite and not keep apart, without exploiting their potential, are successful and prosperous. What is worth emphasizing is that all of us should be aware that small Albania, in addition to other spiritual and material assets, also has a treasure with extraordinary potential: youth." - as he called on students to apply for open positions in public administration. /CNA
