Tax evasion and service with expired products/ Administrator of a dental clinic

A person has been arrested in Tirana after it was discovered that a dental clinic was committing tax evasion and serving expired products.

The administrator of the dental clinic, Turkish citizen AY, 59 years old, was arrested. The subject's coordinator and 2 laboratory technicians were also placed under investigation.

During the checks on the clinic premises, 300 bottles of products (most of them expired), worth around 100,000 euros, were found and seized as material evidence, for which no customs clearance invoices were available, as well as unfiscalized mandates.

The police inform that investigations are ongoing to determine the economic damage caused to the state as a result of the clinic's tax evasion.

Police announcement:

Tirana/The Section for the Investigation of Money Laundering and Criminal Assets finalizes the police operation codenamed "Dentistry".

It is revealed that a dental clinic in "Don Bosko" was committing tax evasion and serving expired products.

300 bottles of products (mostly expired), without customs clearance invoices, worth around 100,000 euros, as well as untaxed mandates, were seized.

The clinic administrator (Turkish citizen) is arrested.

The subject coordinator and 2 laboratory technicians are under investigation.

As a result of the rapid administration of information obtained operationally, that in a subject (dental clinic) in the "Don Bosko" area, economic crimes and crimes against health/life were being committed, specialists from the Money Laundering and Criminal Assets Investigation Section finalized the "Dentistry" operation.

During the intervention in the clinic premises, the administrator of the entity, Turkish citizen AY, 59 years old, was captured and arrested.

Also, 3 employees of the clinic were caught red-handed, specifically the coordinator, citizen BK, 35 years old, as well as the 2 laboratory technicians, citizens LS, 21 years old and AA, 42 years old, for whom proceedings were initiated while at large.

During the inspection of the clinic premises, 300 bottles of products (mostly expired) worth around 100,000 euros were found and seized as material evidence, for which no customs clearance invoices were available, as well as untaxed mandates. Investigations are ongoing to determine the economic damage caused to the state as a result of the evasion of tax obligations by this entity.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
