"We discussed opening a consulate in Bujanovac"/ Hoxha, meeting with

Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha held a meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Marko Djuric, within the framework of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum. Hoxha stated in his reaction to "X" that the meeting discussed the opening of a Consulate in Bujanovac.

Among other things, the minister says that he has reconfirmed Albania's position on the importance of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union, as the only sustainable path towards the full normalization of relations and mutual recognition.

Full reaction:

Today, I had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Djuric, in the framework of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum 2026.

Our discussion focused on advancing bilateral relations through constructive dialogue and concrete cooperation, with the aim of further strengthening economic and trade ties, appreciating their role in promoting sustainable development and regional stability. In this context, I welcomed Serbia's readiness to respond positively to our request to open a Consulate General in Bujanovac.

I underlined the necessity to preserve, deepen and strengthen regional cooperation as the most reliable path towards a common future, leaving aside unnecessary and unproductive rhetoric. Albania remains committed to investing in the clarity of its positions, in the coherence of its foreign policy, as well as in strengthening people-to-people contacts, cultivating a new generation with a clear European vision.

We also acknowledged that we have fundamentally different positions regarding the Republic of Kosovo. I reaffirmed Albania's clear and unwavering position on the crucial importance of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union, as the only sustainable path towards full normalization of relations and mutual recognition, as an essential contribution to lasting peace and long-term stability in the region. /CNA
