The opposition protest is echoed in foreign media.
Here is what Reuters writes:
A protest organized by the Democratic Party of Albania in Tirana escalated into violence on Friday evening, with police intervening with water cannons and pepper spray to disperse the protesters.
During the clash, some protesters threw Molotov cocktails towards the office of Prime Minister Edi Rama, increasing tensions in the capital.
The opposition is demanding Rama's resignation, accusing him of corruption, while the political situation in the country has been tense for months.
The main cause of the escalation is the investigation into former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, suspected of interfering in public tenders and favoring companies, charges she has denied. Although she has resigned, Parliament has not approved the lifting of her immunity.
The events come at a crucial moment for the country, which aims for European Union membership by 2030, while the EU is demanding stronger efforts in the fight against corruption./ CNA
