The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, stated today in the European Parliament that Albania is at a key moment in the integration process and that our goal is to conclude negotiations in 2027 and a year later to seek the vote of the parliaments of the member states.

"We are in the process of negotiations. We have opened all chapters within 13 months and we are hopeful and ambitious to conclude negotiations with the European Union by 2027. As for the national Parliament, since I have the opportunity to address you, in 2028 we will seek the vote of the national parliaments for Albania's membership in the European Union," he declared.

Balla highlighted the progress achieved in several fundamental areas of reform.

"We have made tangible progress in strengthening democratic institutions, consolidating the rule of law, advancing socio-economic reforms, increasing labor market stability and social cohesion, implementing environmental policies, strengthening regional cooperation, and aligning with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy," he said.

The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group spoke within the framework of the European Parliamentary Week 2026, an annual forum organized by the EP in Brussels, which brings together MEPs and members of national parliaments to discuss economic, budgetary policies and competitiveness challenges in the European Union./ CNA
