Berat lawyers again in protest / Boycott indefinitely all court hearings

A day earlier, the General Council of the Albanian Bar decided on "total indefinite boycott of all court proceedings and boycott of security measures with a 10-day term."

Meanwhile, the decision was joined by the lawyers of Berat, who since 08:00 this morning have boycotted all court hearings.

The boycott of all court hearings by Berat lawyers will be indefinite, while all security measures will be boycotted with a 10-day deadline.

We recall here that the lawyers' protest came after the decision to change the new court map, which will merge several courts in different cities, one of which as well as the Vlora Court of Appeal, which covers the south of the country, which thought to be transferred to Tirana.

The President of the Berat Chamber of Advocates, Plarent Lapardhaja has stated that the decision to change the new court map penalizes not only lawyers but also citizens.

He stressed that this boycott will continue indefinitely until their demands are met and that Berat lawyers will join any decision that will be taken by the Albanian Bar Association./ CNA.al
