Weekend activities in the capital / Police announce streets where traffic will

Tirana Police has issued an announcement regarding the restriction and diversion of traffic on the streets of Tirana during the weekend due to high-participation activities that will take place in the capital.

It is announced that today there will be a temporary traffic blockage on the New Boulevard, during the rally for former KLA leaders in "Skënderbej" Square, specifically from 5:00 PM to around 7:00 PM.

The announcement below also lists the roads where there will be traffic restrictions on Saturday and Sunday.

Special action plans have been drafted and are being implemented to ensure the smooth running of three high-profile events taking place in the capital today and over the weekend. The plans also aim to ease traffic, orient citizens and ensure public safety.

In this context, we inform citizens that:

-there will be a temporary traffic blockage on the New Boulevard, during today's rally in "Skënderbej" Square, specifically from 5:00 PM to around 7:00 PM;

-on 18.10.2025, during the "Marathon Fan Run" activity, from 09:00 to 11:00, movement will be restricted in the segment from "Mother Teresa" Square to "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard;

-on 19.10.2025, during the sports activity "Tirana Marathon 2025", there will be a restriction on vehicle traffic from 08:00 to 16:00, in the following areas/road segments: "Mother Teresa" square, "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, "Gjergj Filipi" street, "Papa John Paul II" street, "Ismail Qemali" street, "Bajram Curri" boulevard, intersection with Elbasani Street, "George W. Bush" street, "Abdi Toptani" street, "Zog I" boulevard, New Boulevard, "Ded Gjo Luli" street, "Durrës" street, "Kavajës" street, "Myslym Shyri" street, "Jean D'Ark" boulevard (from the Court bridge to the "Taiwan" bridge), "Bajram Curri" boulevard (from the District Court bridge to the "Taiwan" bridge), "Ibrahim" street Rugova" and "Lek Dukagjini" street.

We also inform you that in order to guarantee the smooth running of this activity, the route of urban transport vehicles will be suspended along the "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard and "Mother Teresa" Square, as well as on all road segments that intersect with the aforementioned route, from 08:00 to 16:00, on 19.10.2025.

Furthermore, the circulation of mixed transport, technological and passenger transport vehicles (except for urban urban transport vehicles) will be prohibited within the Grand Ring Road, on 19.10.2025, from 08:00 to 16:00.

We inform you that the circulation of Emergency and State Police vehicles will continue normally on all the aforementioned routes.

Tirana Police invites citizens to avoid driving in areas where there will be restrictions, to use alternative routes and to respect the instructions of Police officers on the ground. /CNA
