Durrës Regional Hospital reacted a few minutes ago regarding the serious event of the loss of life of a 15-year-old boy, after 9 days hospitalized. 

Through a press statement, it is clarified that contrary to allegations, there was no power outage during the teenager's surgical intervention.

According to the hospital, upon arrival, 15-year-old EB was in extremely serious condition due to traumatic-hemorrhagic injuries.

"Expressing our most sincere condolences to the family of the minor EB, who lost his life, we inform the public that the patient is in extremely serious condition, in traumatic-hemorrhagic shock.

Medical teams immediately intervened with specialized emergency procedures, achieving initial stabilization and subsequent intensive treatment. The complications developed are a consequence of the critical condition and traumatic cardiac arrest.

Following media publications on the claim that during the surgical intervention at the Durrës Regional Hospital "the lights went out", we clarify public opinion as follows:

After verifications carried out with the operating room teams, anesthesiologists and resuscitation staff, no power outage was detected during the operation of the patient in question.

The generator system is activated automatically and vital equipment has internal backup batteries, ensuring full continuity even in the event of possible fluctuations.

Also, the hospital's elevators are functional and covered by an active maintenance contract, with immediate intervention mechanisms in case of defects.

"The Durrës Regional Hospital is committed to guaranteeing healthcare and is fully cooperating with the competent institutions to clarify the incident," the statement said. /CNA
