80 mm of rain in 3 hours/ How is the situation in Vlora

Leonard Qyra, Director of Emergency Response Preparedness and Coordination, has provided information about the situation in Vlora, where there is flooding from heavy rains.

Qyra informs that the situation in the city of Vlora is on the way to normalization.

Referring to the Military Meteorological Service, he states that about 180 mm of rain was recorded in 3 hours.

Qyra emphasized that heavy rainfall is not expected in the coming hours, but the Ministry of Defense will continue to monitor the situation on the ground.

"After the heavy rains in the second part of today, the intensity of the rains has decreased and, as a result, the water has withdrawn. The Ministry of Defense, in coordination with the General Staff and AKMC, today sent 28 forces, 8 vehicles with high mobility, 2 motor pumps for water removal, 1 raft and 5 transport vehicles to the city of Vlora. According to the Military Meteorological Service, about 180 mm of rain was recorded in 3 hours. Meanwhile, 33 families (55 people) have been evacuated, and they have been accommodated in dormitories by the Vlora Municipality. At the meeting of the Civil Defense Commission, where the Mayor of Vlora, Ermal Dredha, also participated, it was discussed about the identification of areas that have the presence of water and need intervention, the management of traffic in the city, the uninterrupted supply of electricity of hydrovores and pumping stations, coordination and management between the structures of the municipality and the police for the evacuated families, following the situation until its complete normalization, as well as cleaning the canals which have been filled due to the flows of the streams. Heavy rains are not expected in the coming hours, but the Ministry of Defense will continue to monitor the situation on the ground to help the Municipality of Vlora", he underlined./ CNA
