The “hot file” in the drawers of justice system/ When will SPAK wake up for the pesticide scandal?

The Special Prosecution Against Organized Crime, otherwise known as the SPAK, is one of the new institutions emerging from the Justice Reform, which has been strongly propagated in the media.

SPAK is seen as the hope that albanians will finally find the missing justice, and that corruption at the highest levels will be cracked down on. But what is happening? One of the files, which should ?wake up? SPAK from sleep, is that of the scandal with chinese pesticides.

Since June of this year, CNA.al has denounced with exclusive documents in some investigative articles, a scandal of unimaginable proportions. It is about a scandal that took place in 2018, for which CNA.al showed with official documents, how thousands of boxes of chinese pesticides used in agriculture have entered our country, not certified by the European Union, the entry of which was prohibited by law.

CNA.al showed with exclusive documents how quantities of banned pecticides were loaded in the port of Shanghai in China, and then brought to Durrës. Part of the orders belonged to the company AGRO-ZANI shpk, with address in Berat, which stated that the chinese exporting company is a subsidiary of a spanish company, which has never been proven.

While, another quantity, turns out to have been ordered by the company ?Shegaj-Agr shpk?, which is administered by Adriatik Hadëri. This company has declared on 14.03, 2018 the customs clearance of a large amount of pesticides, which are used in agriculture, where it is clearly stated that the exporting company is a chinese company.

This citizen has stated that the chinese exporting company is a subsidiary of the company ?MAC-GmbH, with address in Germany. But through documents CNA.al has shown that this scandal has been reported to the Prosecution of Durres.

There was also complete information about him, provided by the Directorate of Investigation at Durres Customs. In connection with this scandal, the Supreme State Audit has also carried out an audit. The revelation of this affair has led to the dismissal of the Director of Investigation, Ervin Brahaj, who revealed this scandal.

It is learned that the latter had a strong clash with the then Deputy Prime Minister Erion Brace. The latter demanded the resignation of the Director of Investigation at the Durres customs, only because he revealed the scandal of the introduction into Albania of thousands of boxes of Chinese pesticides, which were strictly prohibited by law.

The fact is that the pesticides brought by a Chinese company, introduced to Albania directly from China, have not received the certification of the European Union standard. But even though more than 6 months have passed since CNA.al denounced the scandal in question, SPAK has only remained silent.

The documents are clear, the evidence is there, and the SPAK has a chance to show albanians that the missing justice will finally come. So, this body has the opportunity to show whether it is at the height required by albanians or that it is involved in corruption./CNA.al
