OFFICIAL/ UEFA makes the decision, the long-awaited final is canceled

The 2026 Finalissima has been cancelled after an agreement was not reached to host the match between Spain and Argentina.

Talks between UEFA and the Argentine Federation did not produce a final solution for the date and venue of the match.

It was initially planned to play the match in Qatar, but this idea was abandoned due to the tense situation in the Middle East. It was then proposed that the match be held at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid with an equal distribution of fans, but this option was not accepted by Argentina.

Another idea was to organize two matches, one in Spain and one in Buenos Aires. This formula also did not find agreement between the parties. The last option was to hold a match on a neutral ground at the end of March. Due to the lack of a common solution, UEFA announced that this edition of the Finalissima has been canceled.
