Roma disappoints, defeated away by Cagliari

Cagliari secured a crucial 1-0 win over Roma, thanks to Gianluca Gaetano's 82nd-minute goal, ending a ten-match winless streak in Serie A.

The first half was all about the home team, who controlled the tempo and created the best chances, while Roma only had one shot on goal. Cagliari called for a penalty early in the match, but the referee judged that Borrelli had been stopped correctly.

The second half brought the decisive episode when Çelik was sent off after a VAR review and the initial penalty was converted into a free kick outside the area. With numerical superiority, Cagliari increased the pressure and found the goal after a corner kick, with Gaetano scoring from a free kick at the far post.

Roma, however, failed to avoid defeat and remain in fourth place. Earlier, Cremonese beat Lecce 2-0 at home, with goals from Bonazzoli from the penalty spot and Sanabria in the second half.
