Vllaznia moved to Elbasan, Xhaferi: A blow to the sport

Vllaznia's president, Alban Xhaferi, has reacted after the match with Daugavpils was moved to the "Elbasan Arena" stadium.

In a post on his profile, Xhaferi writes that for the first time in history, Vllaznia will play a European match away from Shkodra.

According to him, the decision to relocate was forced, " due to a unilateral and inexplicable decision by the Shkodra Municipality, which decided to hold a concert at the "Loro Boriçi" stadium, disregarding every official agreement, completely ignoring the club, the official Albanian football institutions, every warning and above all, ignoring the interest of the city."

Dear Vllaznia fans and citizens of Shkodra,

Today we are faced with a painful reality:

KF Vllaznia, for the first time in its 106-year history, will not hold its international European Cup match in Shkodra.

This is a blow to the sport, to the city, and to all those who feel part of this history.

After continuous communications with the Albanian Football Association and UEFA, they have suggested that in this situation we have no other choice but to play in another licensed stadium.

We have been forced to move the match to Elbasan Arena, due to a unilateral and inexplicable decision by the Shkodra Municipality, which has decided to hold a concert at the "Loro Boriçi" stadium, disregarding every official agreement, completely ignoring the club, the official Albanian football institutions, every warning and above all, ignoring the interest of the city.

KF Vllaznia has been guided in this situation by a single principle: to protect the club's dignity and not allow its name and credibility in the international arena to be harmed for the sake of temporary events.

I say this with conviction: this is not a divisive decision, but a mature, measured, and fair one.

I am convinced that any authority that carefully follows developments in the country will clearly understand where the responsibility lies.
