Challenge with Albania, Poland are determined for the formation

The Polish national team has undergone a significant tactical transformation since March 2023, abandoning the four-man defense.

The main reason has been the lack of a reliable left-back after the departure of Maciej Rybus. Temporary solutions with adapted players have not yielded convincing results.

The activation of Jakub Kiwior as a left-back in a hybrid role has influenced the move towards a three-back formation. This system has now become the team's standard choice. Even at club level in Poland, this formation is being used more often.

With the arrival of coach Jan Urban, a return to a four-man defense has been considered, but the absences in the squad make this option difficult. On the eve of the match with Albania, it remains unclear whether this situation will be an advantage or a disadvantage for Poland.
