Points are shared in the Czech Republic-South Africa, with one goal in each half

The Czech Republic and South Africa drew 1-1 in their second World Cup Group A match, keeping their hopes of qualification alive.

The Czechs took the lead very early, when Michal Sadilek scored after a built-up move by Adam Hlozek and Alexandr Sojka.

South Africa, who were playing without two players suspended after red cards against Mexico, gradually responded and took control of the game. However, clear-cut chances were lacking for most of the match. The equalizer came in the 83rd minute, when Teboho Mokoena converted from the penalty spot after a handball by Pavel Sulc.

In the remaining minutes, both teams searched for the winning goal, but without success. With this result, both the Czech Republic and South Africa will need to win in their final group match to aim for qualification.

None of them have yet secured passage to the knockout stage.
