Mbappe in trouble, PSG wants 98 million euros

The legal dispute between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain has entered a new phase, with both parties filing significant financial claims in the French courts.

Mbappé, who is currently with Real Madrid, has demanded payment of 55 million euros from PSG, claiming that this amount includes the wages of the last three months of his contract, unpaid bonuses and part of the renewal bonus.

In April 2025, his lawyers managed to place a temporary embargo on this amount in the club's accounts.

PSG has rejected this request, claiming that Mbappé had agreed to waive these payments in August 2023, in exchange for returning to the first team.

The club has filed a counterclaim, seeking 98 million euros from the player, arguing that Mbappé's delaying tactics have caused financial and reputational damage to the club.

The French Football League (LFP) legal committee has ordered PSG to pay Mbappé 55 million euros for unpaid wages.

However, PSG has refused to implement this decision, arguing that the case should be handled in another court.

The case is currently under consideration at the Paris Labor Court, with a hearing scheduled for May 26.

Mbappé's legal representatives have stated that there is no documented agreement that obliges the player to waive payments, refuting PSG's claims of a verbal agreement.

If PSG fails to meet its financial obligations, it could face potential consequences from UEFA, including sanctions related to participation in European competitions.
