Historic in Switzerland! The team wins its first title a year after being promoted to the elite

Thun has been declared Swiss champion, just one season after returning to the elite.

The title was mathematically secured after FC Sion's 3-0 victory over St. Gallen, a result that made it impossible to catch the leaders in the remaining weeks.

The team from the Bernese Oberland dominated the championship since October, leaving behind teams like Basel and Young Boys.

This success is considered among the rarest, recalling cases such as Nottingham Forest in 1978 and Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga.

Thun had a modest history, with a return to the top flight in 2001 and a second-place finish as their best achievement until this season. In 2005 they reached second place, while the following year they played in the Champions League group stage, winning against Sparta Prague.

Coach Mauro Lustrinelli has led the team to this historic success. This is the first major trophy in the club's history and ensures a return to the Champions League after 20 years.
