Schalke 04 returns to the German football elite

Schalke 04 secured their return to the Bundesliga after a 1-0 victory over Fortuna Dusseldorf.

This success ends a three-season stay in Bundesliga 2. The team was relegated in the 2022/23 season and then finished in 10th and 14th place in the two following seasons.

The appointment of Miron Muslic and changes to the squad during the summer proved crucial for promotion. After the match, Edin Dzeko stated that the move to Schalke was the right decision for his career.

He also mentioned the goal of participating in the World Cup with Bosnia. Dzeko, at the age of 40, stressed that he has no intention of stopping just yet. Meanwhile, the club also confirmed the renewal of the contract for coach Muslic until 2028.
