Starting from 2006, the original World Cup is awarded to the winning team only during the official ceremony and is taken back by FIFA officials. The winning representative is then awarded an exact replica of the original trophy. The names of the 12 representatives who have won the World Cup since 1974 are engraved on the bottom of the base of the trophy. This trophy will be awarded for the 13th time in Qatar next month.

Germany is the representative that has won this trophy most often. The Germans have celebrated with trophies on three occasions. They first won it in their country in 1974, then in Italy in 1990 and finally in Brazil in 2014.

Unlike the Jules Rimet Trophy, the current trophy is not finally handed to the representative who wins it three times. The European representatives have won the trophy eight times since 1974. Four times the winners were the representatives from South America. So Germany has won it three times, while Argentina (1978, 1986), Italy (1982, 2006), Brazil (1994, 2002), France (1998, 2018), Spain once (2010) have won it twice.
