The Tepelena Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the Memaliaj Police Station, as a result of the work to prevent and combat criminal activities in the field of property and wealth theft, to shed light on previous events and to bring the perpetrators to criminal responsibility, based on information obtained through operational means and operational work in the field, detained citizen ZU, 67 years old, resident of Belsh.

Also, her son, citizen LU, 36 years old, resident of Belsh, was declared wanted.

From the investigative actions it results that these citizens, in cooperation with each other, studied the places and apartments that they stole and operated in the late hours of the night. Using items such as screwdrivers and crowbars, they committed various thefts in the cities of Memaliaj and Përmet, specifically:

04.05.2025, Vasjar village, Memaliaj – in the apartment of citizen P. Ll., gold jewelry and a large amount of money were stolen;

10.07.2025, Krahës village – in a religious building, a large amount of money was stolen;

07.08.2025, Sukë village, Përmet – in a religious building, a large amount of money was stolen;

23.08.2025, Petran village, Përmet – in the bar of citizen AL, a large amount of money was stolen;

04.09.2025, Memaliaj – a large amount of money was stolen from a place of worship and a bar.

As material evidence, 1 vehicle, 1 cell phone, and the items used to commit the thefts (crowbar and screwdriver) were seized.

Work is underway to capture the 36-year-old. Investigations are ongoing to uncover and document other thefts that may have been committed by these citizens.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further actions, for the criminal offense of "Theft", committed in collaboration./ CNA
