A 58-year-old man from the village of Rëmbec i Maliqi lost his life on Sunday, September 7, at the QSUT, after 15 days in a coma. The victim is Jorgo Ajredini, who on August 13 was initially taken by his family to the Korça hospital with serious head injuries and then, due to his condition, was transported to Tirana. The incident was initially referred by the police as an accident, with the suspicion that the 58-year-old had been hit by a horse.
But his family members have rejected this version, claiming that Ajredini was hit with hard objects by a person with whom he had had previous conflicts. They say that the victim, before losing consciousness, had told them that he had been attacked by a "short person from Pogradec", while according to them, the condition and wounds on some parts of the head do not match an accidental hit by an animal.
"I was in Rëmbec with my brother. We parted ways there. I found him drinking a glass at the museum, at the club. My brother took the horse and went to tie it to the alfalfa, I ran home. My cousin comes, wakes me up and says: "My brother was hit by a horse." We went 45 minutes before they were going to Tirana. I asked my brother and he said: “I wasn’t hit by a horse, but by a person from Pogradec.” I went to Tirana one day, the next day I reported him to Maliq. The case was very serious. He was in a coma, the doctors lifted him up, because he was a little better. “He hit me,” said my brother, but he wasn’t conscious. Then he went back down and they lifted him up again. That’s the end of it… In short, they hit him. The horse wasn’t where it should have been tied; it should have been in the hay. They ambushed him. When he said “they hit me,” he also said “a short guy from Pogradec.” He said this himself. I want the truth. The police haven’t done anything,” - Agustin Ajredini.
"The incident happened in the village of Rëmbec in Korça. Our cousins ??found him and brought him to Korça. They said he had been hit by a horse. They found his brother thrown into the canal, there was blood in two places and 4-5 meters away they found his brother. They brought him to Korça. When they were going to take him to Tirana, the brother said that he had not been hit by a horse, but by a man from Pogradec. Blood came out of his mouth and he could no longer speak. His eyebrow was split, there was another blow behind his ear and also to his jaw. This proves that it was not a horse blow, because there were blows in several places. These boys who gave the statements were the first to find him. There was a conflict with a boy from Rëmbec, he was convicted and served time in prison. It was an act of love, a family separation. This boy took my brother's wife and hit her with an axe. The incident happened over a year and a half ago. I don't believe it "It may be the same perpetrator, but from the blows I saw, they were with heavy objects, from what I saw in the hospital in Tirana. In Tirana, he spent 15 days in a coma, the doctors said he was in serious condition. The expertise did not give us an answer, but the Korça prosecutor's office did. We are burying our brother, but we want the incident to be clarified. The horse did not hit him, 1000%", - Ilia Ajredini.

Suspicions have also been added by the testimony of the victim's uncle, who says that the doctor who treated him in Tirana ruled out the possibility that the wounds were caused by a horse kick.
"The boy took him ahead. I went to Tirana with the deceased's brother and they didn't know the identity of my nephew. They gave him the report, the nurses called the doctor. When the doctor came, he said: "What happened to this boy? What's wrong with you?" I told him: "I have a nephew." He has a brother. "How did this person get into an accident?" the doctor said. It was the second time this boy had been hit; the same doctor who had been there the other time he had been hit shot him. The brother said: "What happened here, who hit him?" We informed him that the Korça police said that he had been hit by a horse, but he told us that he had not been hit by a horse, but that he had been hit by strong means. He got angry, adding: "Where are the Korça police, why don't they come here?" We asked to see him, but the doctor said: "I will contact you tomorrow." "After two days we saw him, he was in serious condition," said Kostaq Kosturi.
The death of Jorgo Ajredini has reopened investigations by the police and the Korça prosecutor's office. So far, about 15 people have been questioned, including family members and residents of the village. Since the day of the incident, security camera footage from the area has also been seized, which is being analyzed by the prosecutor's office. The investigation team is expected to finally clarify whether this was an accident or a criminal incident, once the forensic report is released./CNA
