The Local Education Office in Shkodër conducted its analysis for the year 2025. The Director of the Local Education Office, Brisela Kadia, stated in this analysis that the average grade has increased compared to 2024, while she said that private schools have higher results than public ones. The analysis also shows that city schools dominate compared to villages.

"In 2025, we had 156 educational institutions, including preschools and schools, of which we have 13,010 students in public institutions and 4,981 students in non-public ones, with a total of 17,991 students. The main objective was to increase the average grade in the state matura exams. In 2024, we had an average of 7.17 and in 2025 it went to 7.347. Achievements in non-public education are higher compared to public schools. Similarly, city schools have higher results than those in administrative units," said Kadia.

Another figure that requires in-depth analysis is that only 72% of high school graduates have gone to university, of which no more than 41% have chosen the University of Shkodra and the rest are distributed among the auditoriums of Tirana, private and universities abroad at 8%.

"From the elective subjects, the most preferred are economics with 41.55% of students, citizenship and psychology 22.09%, biology 19.97%, hospitality-tourism 6.23% and physics 1.77% of students. In all elective subject exams, the pass rate is 100%. Meanwhile, 72% of high school graduates have gone to universities and 28% have chosen to be in the labor market. Of the high school graduates who pursued higher studies, 41% chose the University of Shkodra "Luigj Gurakuqi", 12% of high school graduates attended the Universities of Tirana, 11% of high school graduates attended private schools, and 8% of high school graduates went abroad," said Kadia.

During 2025, Shkodra received 15 gold medals, 10 of which were earned by the "28 Nëntori" school.

"In 2025, the Shkodër ZVA has achieved very positive results in terms of gold medals. We have received 15 gold medals, of which 10 have been awarded to the '28 Nëntori' school, which continues to be the high school with the highest number of gold medals, but has also increased this number from year to year. Three gold medals have been awarded to a private school, the 'Oso Kuka' high school, one gold medal and another to a non-public school, making a total of 15," said the head of the Shkodër ZVA.

One concern is collective classes, where the Shkodra Secondary Educational Service counts 77 of them out of 81 that resulted in 2024.

"We had an objective to reduce the number of collective classes and from 81 in 2025, there were 77 collective classes. This is a challenge because it is difficult to tell residents that children will leave this area to another area to study, but despite this, we have managed to reduce the number somewhat and we will continue to try," said Kadia.

During the analysis, it was emphasized that schools have psychologists and social workers, along with teachers, to minimize cases of bullying and discrimination, as well as conflicts between students, topics that are receiving more and more attention due to the problems that have emerged./CNA
