New study/ Gut microbes play a role in autism

Researchers have been conducting research into the biological roots of autism and this time they are focusing on a new area, the microbiome.

Research has shown that microbes that have been identified in the human gut play a role in autism, The Epoch Time reports .

From the biopsies performed on autistic children, a common finding has been noted in the intestines. The cells and molecules are uniquely inflamed, unlike other inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease.

Autism has unique mitochondrial, metabolic, and neurological components that constitute autoimmunity.

The study is based on data published by 43 researchers and leaves room to doubt the theory that autism is a primarily genetic condition.

Researchers have described this discovery as good news, since they think that autoimmune disease can be treated, just like Crohn's, if the doctor is able to make the right diagnosis./ CNA.al
