The project of the new Psychiatric Hospital in Vlora/ Manastirliu is presented:

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, presented in Vlora the new project of the Psychiatric Hospital, which will be transformed into a new model with two supported houses, with funding from the Albanian government.

"It is another project of the Albanian government in the amount of 180 million lek, for two supported houses, which will be built in this hospital structure, thus giving the opportunity for 120 patients who suffer from mental health diseases to be accommodated in these structures, which are like family structures. So they do not resemble a typical hospital, but family structures, which can create all aspects of clinical treatment, but also the aspect of multidisciplinary, social and recreational services, through therapies we offer," said Minister Manastirliu.

Based on the global objectives for mental health and in implementation of the action plan of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Minister Manastirliu said that the expansion of the service with psychologists and social workers in primary health care is continuing.

"We are already including our entire primary care system in a developmental phase, where for the first time we have included social services, integrating them with health services. We are already in the phase where another 50 social workers and psychologists will are added to our primary care structures, bringing our army of psychologists and social workers in primary care to 100," said Manastirliu.

This year, in addition to the investment in the Vlorë Psychiatric Hospital, for the supported structures, another important project will be opened for the rehabilitation of the Psychiatric Hospital at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center. Also in 2024, the rehabilitation project for the Psychiatric Hospital of Elbasan will start, to serve all patients with mental health problems in optimal conditions and according to the international model of treatment of these diseases, through supported homes, which are family structure.
