Manastirliu: We strengthen the role of the social worker in health structures

On World Social Work Day, the first 300 social workers were licensed. The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, together with the representative of UNICEF in Albania, Dr. Roberto Bernardi, the President of the Order of Social Workers, Mirgit Vataj, and the Head of the Department of Social Work, Eliona Kulluri, distributed the first certificates of licensing for social workers in the country.

“Sot jam e lumtur që së bashku me ata që për herë të parë kanë bërë të mundur ngritjen e Urdhrit të Punonjësit Social, jemi këtu për të dhënë licencat e para të punonjësve socialë”, tha Manastirliu.

Në fjalën e saj, Ministrja Manastirliu nënvizoi fuqizimin e rolit të punonjësit social në protokollet e shërbimit spitalor, por edhe në shërbimin parësor me krijimin e qendrave socio-shëndetësore.

“Vëmendja jonë është në fuqizimin e rolit të punonjësit social, në zgjerimin e bazës së shërbimeve ku punonjësi social të jetë pjesë integrale. Strategjia jonë e kujdesit parësor përmban pikërisht një komponent kyç që ka të bëjë me komponentin socio-shëndetësor, integrimin e shërbimeve që ofrohen në shëndetësi, ku një rol me të rëndësishëm ka figura e punonjësit social dhe psikologut brenda kujdesit parësor. 50 punonjësit socialë dhe psikologët e parë tashmë janë atashur pranë qendrave shëndetësore dhe brenda këtij viti, ne do të kemi edhe 50 punonjës të tjerë, psikologë dhe punonjës socialë, të cilët do të atashohen në strukturat e kujdesit parësor në të gjithë Shqipërinë”,- u shpreh Manastirliu.

Social workers are also included in the reform for the assessment of individuals with disabilities, as members of the bio-psycho-social commissions and part of the multidisciplinary assessment. Currently, there are 21 social workers part of these Commissions established in 12 Districts of the country. Also, social workers are part of health, social, educational, justice structures, etc.

One year after the establishment of the Order of Social Workers, on the World Day of Social Work and the Month of Social Work, the first 300 licenses were granted to social workers in the Republic of Albania, after a long work process by the bodies of the Order of Social Workers.
