Nutritionist Altin Joka reveals the secret to a more restful and regenerative sleep, it all starts with the body's position during sleep.
According to Joka, sleeping on your right side initially brings a number of health benefits: it reduces stress and pressure on the heart, improves blood circulation, reduces snoring and helps the respiratory system stay open. This position also helps the parasympathetic nervous system to be stimulated, facilitating relaxation and regeneration at night.
"The liver needs rest after a tiring day, and sleeping on your right side helps with this process. It also improves lymphatic flow, helping the body naturally remove toxins," explains Joka.
But the benefits don't just make the body sleep in one position. The body automatically changes positions during the night to calm the stomach, relieve the liver, or give the arms a rest.
Tips for quality sleep from Altin Joka:
Lie down first on your back and then on your right side.
Don't argue or smoke or drink coffee before bed.
Avoid social media 30 minutes before bed – increases sleep quality by 27%.
Sleep in a cool, dark, and airy room.
Use a quality pillow and mattress, with a cool pillow for faster relaxation.
"Start sleeping on your right side, then let your body lead the night, and you will wake up more refreshed and rejuvenated," the nutritionist concludes.
Left or right, where should we sleep?
First, we should lie on our backs with our eyes looking up at the ceiling, until our body, organs, and breathing calm down and prepare for sleep.
Then, sleeping should be done on the right side because:
-It reduces stress on the heart, reduces pressure on it.

The nervous system calms down more quickly, as the right side lobe is more busy during the day, but also because sleeping on the right side is associated with stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps the body calm down and regenerate at night.
Sleeping on your right side helps the liver create a cushion to rest after tiring tasks during the day.
Sleeping on your right side improves lymph flow.
But on the other hand, we can't sleep on one side all the time, as the body moves many times during the night and we are not aware of it.

When the liver needs to perform certain functions, it turns to the left.
