In the heart of Devoll, where one of the colossuses of Albanian letters was born and formed, the construction of the Dritëro Agoll Museum has finally begun, a long-awaited and deeply symbolic project for the entire community and beyond.

The museum will serve as a place of honor for the life, creativity and extraordinary contribution of Dritëro Agolli, an author who not only enriched Albanian literature, but also made the name of Devoll known within and outside its borders.

Mayor of Devoll, Eduard Duro, says that this work will give the Devoll colossus of Albanian letters the value it deserves.

"It is a work that will give the value that belongs to the colossus of Albanian letters and to the one who has honored us as a region, who is an asset to the entire country. I hope that these works will proceed at the right pace and I am very optimistic about this, within 6 months we will have the building ready and then continue further efforts to turn the building into a museum, as a special working group is needed for this part. We hope that this work will serve as an asset for the proclamation of the Devollite culture and the values ??that characterize the people of Devoll. We have a lot to reveal in Upper Devoll and that this will become an attraction and be visitable, not only by school students, as it will be a curriculum in their teaching programs, but also by foreign tourists who are familiar with the figure of Dritëro Agolli, as his work has been translated into many languages ????of the world", said Duro.

Chairman of the Korça District Council, Erion Nexhipi, said that this project represents one of the emblems of Albanian culture, Dritëro Agollit, which does not belong only to Devollit.

"In cooperation with the Devoll Municipality, we initiated this project last year, worked to improve the project created several years ago, found financing and after legal procedures we have begun work on the realization of this investment. This project represents one of the emblems of Albanian culture, Dritëro Agolli, who does not belong only to Devoll. He belongs to the region, to Albania, and perhaps even to the world encyclopedia of culture. I believe that with the love that has begun, this project will be realized and will represent in a dignified manner this extraordinary figure of our country", said Nexhipi.

Designed for years, but delayed for various reasons, this museum is finally taking shape, becoming a concrete testament to the appreciation for the cultural heritage and the immortal figure of the writer. Even his friends and contemporaries have expressed emotion and enthusiasm for the realization of this initiative.

One of Dritëroi's friends, Endri Fifo, said that this museum also fulfills a wish of the Devolli people themselves.

"Dritëro Agolli has been and remains my friend, one of the central figures of Albanian poetry and I certainly feel a pleasure because I have always considered Dritëro a friend, I even composed songs for him when he was alive and when he heard it, he hugged me and said: "Thank you, I will never forget you for the rest of my life." A wish of all Devollians has been fulfilled, but it does not end there. Dritëro had a dream that a monument for his work would be erected in the middle of Bilisht. It is a great pleasure, personally for me and for my family, that Dritëro is being given this appreciation and it is not only that. It will be a tourist attraction because many visitors want to come and see his museum in Devoll," said Fifo.

The total value of the contract is over 15 million lek excluding VAT, while with VAT it reaches around 19 million lek. The works are expected to last 6 months from the moment of handing over the construction site and signing the minutes for the start of works./CNA
