Protest today/ Këlliçi: No statues of crime and corruption, no new

Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi has reacted on social media regarding the protest that will be held this afternoon in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

Këlliçi writes that 35 years ago, the citizens of Tirana toppled the statue of former dictator Enver Hoxha, adding that that time is similar to today.

The MP states that citizens today have the same "national duty", to stop those who, according to him, seek to be untouchable by the law.

Full reaction:

No statues of crime and corruption, no new Blockades in Tirana!

Like today, 35 years ago, students, youth, intellectuals, workers, and residents of Tirana toppled the statue of Enver Hoxha, throwing the 45-year-old regime to the ground. It took a lot of courage, because the regime's notorious troops with guns and spacesuits spared no one. But Tirana succeeded, removing the last obstacle to freedom.

There are many similarities, 35 years later. And then, at the end of January, a law was passed that ensured the inviolability of statues of the regime and the dictator. It was demanded at all costs to preserve the Bloc and its privileges.

Even today, a law is being prepared that requires immunity for the new blockmen, for Edi Rama and his followers. The new statue is the Garden of Eden that Edi Rama has erected in the Prime Minister's office with 4 million euros from Albanian taxes.

The new statue is the 33 thousand euro bottle of wine he consumes.

The new statue is the private jet he uses. It's the expensive stadium tickets. It's the luxurious detox weekends.

The new statue of the new autocrat is the hundreds of millions of euros in tenders that are divided according to interest. The new statues are the concrete masses of drug money and corruption that have sprouted everywhere.

35 years later, the citizens, students, young people, and residents of Tirana are called upon under the same historical order and national duty.

Let us not allow the new statue of crime and corruption to occupy our sky, let us not allow the new Bloc that demands by law to have immunity and privileges.

We do not give away what was earned with great effort by our parents' generation.

Let's join together today at 6:00 PM, on the Boulevard, with energy, determination, passion and love for Albania. / CNA
