Rama: Contract with agriculture, important for food security and the EU market

Prime Minister Edi Rama focused today on practical mechanisms related to farmers and agriculture.

In his speech at the event "With Farmers in Albania 2030", Rama stated that the contract with agriculture is important, as it is related not only to the quality of security, but also to Albania's goals to be a player in the EU market.

"The contract with agriculture is more important. Just as it is more welcome, to face the controls, which stem from the quality of security, when it comes to being market players in the European single market. But I strongly believe that in incomparable conditions, a decade ago, they were on the ground and faced an extraordinary survival challenge. Essentially, it has to do with the will to succeed. At that time, Albanian agriculture was totally abandoned. The number of farmers who receive symbolic support today is 67,500, which is support that weighs. Exports were simply and only the activity of a handful of people who had made it this far and the trade deficit was on the verge of catastrophe. Today, our products go to 80 countries around the world and our effort is to move towards a 1 to 2 ratio", said Rama. /CNA
