The Chairman of the National Council of the Democratic Party, Edi Paloka, said today that of all the forms of opposition to win the political battle, the hunger strike is not an alternative that yields results. 

In a television interview, Paloka stated that for the DP, the strike is only a means to sensitize public opinion and internationals, as Albanians know the truth about the country.

"For me, there is only one way. The dictatorship is not overthrown by words or electoral farces. It is useless for us to continue to enter this game. The last group meeting was held with one point, the reaction that we should have had to what happened in the Assembly.

It is a very difficult situation, you mentioned the hunger strike, I have said it before, I am against it. Today we must find ways to give us results, but in this specific case, where we only needed a reaction to what happened, I myself would not see it as an act that should not be carried out. There is perhaps no need for a hunger strike, there are other forms to attract attention.

When he asked if the hunger strike would be to overthrow this regime, I said no. It could serve to attract attention and sensitize the public. I'm talking about normalcy and not about a man like this who has shown that he won't give a damn.

In this case I say why not, it is not an act that should be excluded but always only to attract attention and sensitize the international opinion more than the Albanian one. Because for me, unfortunately, the Albanians are very clear about what is happening in this country", Paloka said. /CNA
