Fatos Nano's passing/Sunday is a day of mourning and state tributes

The Council of Ministers has decided to declare Sunday, November 2, a Day of Mourning for the passing of former Prime Minister Fatos Nano.

In the decision taken today, it has been decided that on Sunday, November 2, state tributes will be held in honor of Fatos Nano at the Palace of Congresses.

Tributes will begin at 8:30 AM.

Declaring National Mourning in Honor of the Late Fatos Nano, Former Prime Minister, Leader and Prominent Politician

The Council of Ministers has decided to declare National Black Day on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in honor of Fatos Nano, former Prime Minister and one of the most important figures in Albanian politics.

In respect of his valuable contribution to the public and political life of the country, a state funeral ceremony and National Tributes will be held for the deceased.

In all state and public institutions, the national flag will be lowered to half-mast.

At 12:00, in his honor, all activities will be suspended and a minute of silence will be observed throughout the country.

Congress Palace, Tirana

            • 08:30 – 11:00 – Public tributes

            • 11:15 – 11:45 – State tributes and honors from dignitaries

            • 12:05 – State funeral farewell ceremony

 

A Special State Commission has been established to organize the ceremony under the supervision of the Prime Minister, with representatives from key state and security institutions.
