"The hunting moratorium has fallen"/ Man to CNA: New law, with several

Chairman of the Tirana Hunters' Association, Armand Burri, explained today that technically and legally, the 2013 Hunting Moratorium has expired.

In an interview with CNA, Burri shared details of the laws that are being further considered and the stages they will go through in parliamentary committees.

 "Now, we have in Albania the moratorium that continued in 2013, which means there were two five-year moratoriums and there was also a last three-year one that belongs to the year 2022. Namely law 60/2022, which was approved on 22.07.2022. And this was a moratorium with a three-year term. Which means that at the moment in 2025, in July 2025, there were two ways: either the new moratorium would continue and the ministry would present a new law regarding the moratorium, which means that there would be another three-year term, another three-year or five-year extension, as they reasoned in July 2025. The ministry, together with us, the National Federation and the associations, have given suggestions regarding the new law and approved and passed the law for approval. "But the new law has several stages that will go through committees and these others that we are now concluding and we hope that by, let's say, by the end of November we will have the new law on hunting," said Burri.

Asked about cases of illegal hunting caught in the act, Burri said that in this period, technically and legally, the 2013 moratorium has lapsed.

"As the Chairman of the Tirana Hunters' Association, I have had two cases in which we have spoken with the competent authorities. Now, legally, the hunting moratorium has fallen. Because it is with a fixed deadline and a law with a fixed deadline, it has automatically fallen. Either the implementation of the law would be taken up, that is to say, we would postpone the moratorium, or we would introduce the new law. The moment the new law was introduced, automatically and legally, the moratorium has fallen", explained Burri. /CNA
