Former DP MP, Edmond Spaho, has reacted to criticisms of his stance towards the leadership of the Democratic Party. In his post on social media, Spaho states that the DP is currently behaving like a "headless chicken."

Further, the former MP says that in 35 years he has remained loyal to the ideals of the DP, while also sharing a meeting and conversation he had with the leader of the Democrat Party, Sali Berisha, held in September 2021, when the Foltorja began.

At the end of the post, Spaho writes that his criticisms and positions are based on the mistakes made by all Democratic MPs over the past 13 years. He emphasizes that it takes dedicated people and work to build a DP, which, according to him, is "finished."

To my critics!

I see many militants endlessly insulting me on Facebook for the positions I hold and the criticisms of the DP leadership, which in my opinion is behaving like a headless chicken.

It seems that for the militants I am a traitor. However, I want to ask you why you did not call me a traitor:

1. In September 2021, when was I one of the first to line up next to the Pulpit?

2. In October 2021, when, along with 4 other MPs, including Sali Berisha, I was expelled from the DP? Were they all included in the closed list in 2025? I was not, and I did not complain.

3. When was I expelled from Parliament for 50 days, how rarely has anyone else?

4. When I rang the whistle in protest for 6 hours in the Assembly, trampling on my reputation because I believed we would overthrow Rama?

5. When did I defend Nongrata and criticize the American Embassy and Administration, even though I had a reputation as a staunch pro-American?

6. When every day, together with 5–6 MPs, I went to the protest on Rruga e Shpresës and spoke more than anyone else? Others, "ours," were too lazy to come.

7. When I came second in votes in the primary in the entire parliamentary group and was not included in the closed list and still did not complain?

In 35 years, I have never wavered and have remained loyal not to the names but to the ideals of the DP.
In September 2021, when the Forum started, I met with Mr. Berisha in his office, with his request to support the Forum. I promised him full support and expressed two concerns:

1. Are you serious about this movement you are starting? The answer was YES. Later I realized that the Pulpit was abandoned for interests unrelated to those for which it was created.

2. I suggested to him not to deal with the Americans, despite the fact that they have been on his neck. Let's deal with the party, strengthen it and return to being an alternative government. He did not answer me.

Finally: Men are held to their word. Especially when they are old. Even worse when they are being lied to. I'm talking about men, not flags.

My criticisms are fair, they are based on the 13-year mistakes we have made together. To win, we need a new strategy, dedicated people and endless work at the grassroots level to build the DP, which today seems to be at an end. /CNA
