"Something that goes beyond membership", Rama: Here's what

Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the process of opening the group chapters has helped Albania in several ways. Rama said that what Albanians will gain from this process is something that, according to him, goes beyond membership itself. He emphasized that they will gain a country that functions on the basis of institutions, the rule of law and the principles and standards of EU countries.

"I believe that the question about skeptics is not about those who are skeptical about the EU. But about those who are fully committed and in love with the EU. Those who have questions, will we finally get what we have dreamed of for so long? I want to stop for a second and say. Take the years that we have been working together and fighting to move forward. If you were to take the EU out of the picture and keep me in government, the Albanians, would Albania be what it is today? No. This process has helped us in ways that would otherwise be impossible. If you don't give up and persist, you will win in the end. What Albanians gain from this process is something that goes beyond formal membership. They gain a country that functions on the basis of institutions, the rule of law, the principles and standards that make EU countries so admired.
