These bombs fell and we saw...

Whenever there is a global crisis, the Albanian government finds moral calm.

Because the fault...is always somewhere else.

The government's concern about rising prices due to the Middle East crisis cannot appear as innocent as that of every citizen of this blessed climate and land.

This government should even be held accountable for its frightening interdependence with crises of all kinds.

In 13 years, it did not stimulate domestic production, on the contrary. It also robbed the funds intended by the EU for the Albanian farmer. It shrank the agricultural sector to survival.

In 13 years, it removed its workforce in epic waves of emigration.

It drove away creative minds, scientists, engineers, agronomists, physicists, professionals from every productive branch of the economy.

It depopulated villages and fertile areas, patched up dilapidated roads, and destroyed infrastructure, right where nature and God brought abundance.

It turned an oil-rich country into an importer, artificially raising prices at gas stations in times of peace and no longer in times of war.

Albania has one of the highest costs of living relative to income in the region. Even without a global crisis.

Go out and see the towers empty of life. What healthy economic structure can survive in concrete ghosts?

Every inflated tender, every dubious concession, every project with multiplied costs translates into public debt, higher costs for business, and higher prices for citizens.

If a road costs twice as much as the region, someone pays the difference in taxes and prices. And that someone is the citizen.

The prime minister's rhetoric about global disasters cannot fool anyone, because the crisis we are experiencing in war and peace does not come from the Middle East, but from the governance model.

13 years of economy built on PPP, concessions, construction sector,

remittances and seasonal tourism. So we are doomed that a "sneeze" somewhere will bring a "sneeze" here.

Even without a crisis in the Middle East, in Albania, inflation is perceived as more severe than in other countries in the region, even when the nominal figures are similar. Because purchasing power is lower, because the market structure does not recognize free competition, because corruption increases the cost of each link in the chain.

An economy with real competition absorbs shocks. An economy with monopolies and oligopolies uses shocks to increase profit margins on the backs of Albanians.

There is no surprise, global crises are cyclical. But structural deformations are local choices. Choices that have only one author in 13 years.

Therefore, any justification for the impact of the global crisis does not begin in the Middle East, but in an office very close to the dictator's former villa in Tirana./ CNA
