Humorous literature unites authors in Korça/The nationwide "Niko

The Third Nationwide Humorous Literature Competition "Niko Nikolla" has begun in the city of Korça, a cultural event that aims to promote and raise the level of Albanian humorous literature.

This edition features 31 authors, mainly from Albania, but also from Kosovo, Presheva, Serbia, Germany and Italy, in genres such as prose, poetry, comedy and satire. The activity was also accompanied by a mini-book fair, where the authors presented their works.

The organizer of the event, Flora Nikolla, stated that this activity represents a special journey for authors and humor lovers, turning Korça into a meeting point for writers of this genre. According to her, the main goal of the competition is to create a map of Albanian authors who cultivate humor literature, as well as to evaluate the work and sacrifices they make until the publication of their works.

"It is a long and short journey of the third nationwide humorous literature competition. We are pleased to bring it to the wonderful city of Korcë. The main goal of organizing this event is to raise the level of humorous literature to a higher level. We wanted to create a map of Albanian writers of this type of literature. 31 authors participate in this competition, most of them from Albania, in the genres of prose, poetry, and many comedies. There are participants from Presheva, Serbia, Kosovo, Germany, Italy, so we tried to create a map of this literature. We also have a mini-fair where the authors brought their works so that they feel appreciated because of the great sacrifices they make until their publication, with passion and perseverance, continuing the tradition of humor," said Nikolla.

Also participating in the competition was Bujar Kapexhiu, the well-known artist, who presented his book "Poetry, Humor, and Satire". He emphasized that humor is one of the most difficult genres of art, but at the same time the most favorite by the public, as it conveys messages and addresses social issues through a smile.

"It is a pleasure for me to be in Korçë today. A humor festival is being organized for literature, prose, fable, poetry. Humor is the most difficult genre of art, so looking at this stand with books, you are pleased because it is produced. There are people who deal with humor, who write, who think about humor and satire, and to give readers not only a smile but through their writings they also give them the message, the problematic that they attack, stigmatize. The art of humor is preferred on stage, in art, in literature, and we who deal with humor have the pleasure that the spectators at least smile when they receive our works", said Kapexhiu.

The event also included visual arts, with the participation of cartoonist Endri Beqo, who brought works on social and current topics. In his cartoons, he addressed the lack of peace and human suffering caused by conflicts in the world, reflecting reality through the art of humor and satire.

"I am from Tirana and I graduated in figurative arts, I develop cartoons with social themes and express my energy in current issues in the world. Art is really fading, but I am dealing with art and I am trying to walk this path. Today in my cartoons I have brought a world that is crying because there is no peace. You see for yourself that there is war in Ukraine, Palestine, and I have expressed something about the suffering and the bitter truth that is being shown," said Beqo.

The third nationwide competition of humorous literature "Niko Nikolla", which is taking place at the "Andon Zako Çajupi" Theater in Korça, will last until the 15th, gathering authors from the Albanian regions and the diaspora. The activity will close with the award ceremony on the last day, where the most outstanding creations in prose, poetry, comedy and satire will be evaluated, confirming the importance of humor as a form of art and social reflection./CNA
