About 27 kg of cannabis seized in Saranda/ 30-year-old arrested, 4 OSHEE

A 30-year-old man was arrested and 4 OSHEE employees were prosecuted in Saranda for abuse of office, as part of a police operation codenamed "Green Flat" to crack down on cannabis cultivation.

During the operation, 260 narcotic plants, 26.6 kg of cannabis, and electrical equipment used for the cultivation and processing of narcotic plants for the purpose of sale were seized.

In continuation of the work to crack down on criminal activities in the field of narcotics, after registering the criminal proceedings, based on information provided by intelligence, field verifications and several weeks of investigative actions, the Narcotics Investigation Sector of the Vlora Police Department, in cooperation with the services of the Saranda Police Commissariat, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora, finalized the police operation codenamed "Green flat".

As a result of this operation, the Police services discovered in a building on "Butrinti" Street, Saranda, an apartment that was adapted for the cultivation of narcotic plants through electric lamps, their drying and processing, with the aim of sale. The verifications showed that the equipment was supplied with illegal electricity connections.

During the operation, citizen EP, 30 years old, resident of Tirana, was arrested, who was caught by the Police services inside the apartment, taking care of narcotic plants.

Also, citizen MQ, 26 years old, resident of Korça, was declared wanted, suspected of being an accomplice in this criminal activity.

Following the actions in this case, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office where proceedings were initiated against 4 employees of OSHEE Saranda, citizens HA, 54 years old, HC, 34 years old, EP, 47 years old and FH, 32 years old, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office".

The following material evidence was seized:

26.6 kg of cannabis (processed, ready for sale), 260 potted narcotic plants, 70 electric bulbs with reflectors, 70 electric fuses, 260 wrappers adapted as pots for cultivation, 1 vehicle, 3 cell phones and other equipment used for criminal activity.

Work continues to capture the wanted citizen and identify other citizens who may have been involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
