The two former directors of the Municipality of Tirana, Mariglen Qato and Redi Molla, are already in more difficult positions, as the accusation of money laundering has been added to them, in the affair known as "5D". 

Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to "MCN TV", said that they now risk up to 15 years in prison if they are found guilty of this crime, while the investigations against them have been postponed by one year. 

"The Special Appeal directed the prosecution to investigate other violations as well. It reached the conclusion, even going to a serious point, raising suspicions that there was a structured criminal group within the municipality.

Today was the court hearing against Redi Molla, Mariglen Qato and Taulant Tusha.

The lawyers had requested the removal of the security measure. The prosecutor said I registered a new criminal offense, money laundering. Since the position of former officials is aggravated, it automatically goes in the direction of Mr. Veliaj, the term of detention should be extended and the court accepted it.

The position of the former directors of Veliaj is significantly aggravated in relation to the law. Associated persons are also investigated for money laundering. Second, the penalty margin increases significantly, it can go up to 15 years in prison. '5D' is a long way, there is an investigation for Veliaj, his family members, there are other officials that the Special Appeal has guided.

For example, in one of the cases, the brother of Taulant Tuša communicates with Nestor Muhametllari, the paper owner of '5D', because the actual owners are Qato and Molla. It turns out that Muhametllari had contacts with the municipality officials, but also with their family members," said Lala.
