In just one week, Spanish authorities have seized 11 tons of cocaine in Galicia and Valencia hidden in sea containers from Latin America, in what represents the largest seizure of the drug in Spain.

The Spanish media report that this is a heavy blow for Albanian organizations, as they are among the most powerful in Europe.


"This Tuesday the officers of the Drug and Organized Crime Unit of the National Police together with those of the Tax Agency detailed the results of two different operations carried out at the end of November and the first week of December. On the one hand, the operation Tonara has been the largest cocaine seizure in Galicia with 7.5 tons of drugs removed from containers and hidden in frozen tons, resulting in the arrest of five people. The second operation, called Fulgor, has allowed the arrest of 15 people - the last of them yesterday in Madrid - and the seizure of 3.5 tons of drugs that arrived more than a month ago in the port of Valencia," the article says. 

Chief Commissioner of the Central Narcotics Brigade, Antonio Duarte, although they are two different operations, there are some common links. 

"Behind both shipments are the Albanian networks, which are the organizations that have monopolized the shipment of drugs to Europe in double containers from the sea", he emphasized./ CNA
