The police have hit a case of smuggling in Albania of consumer products, for the purpose of sale.

The Blues have handcuffed a 63-year-old man and 2 employees of the Qafë Bote Customs Branch, while another employee has been taken under investigation.

Specifically, 63-year-old NG, for the criminal offense of "Smuggling with other goods", 54-year-old AA, with customs duty at the Qafë Botë Customs Branch, and 49-year-old AV, with duty in charge of the shift at the Qafë Botë Customs Branch, were arrested.

The 52-year-old AM, business administrator, was also wanted for the criminal offense of "Trading and transporting contraband goods".

On the other hand, the 43-year-old EA, with the duty of agent in the Customs Branch around the World, was processed in a free state.

During the operation, the NG citizen was caught in the PKK Qafë Botë, bringing into Albania, with heavy vehicles (trucks and trailers), large quantities of consumer products, suspected of being smuggled. These goods were allegedly transported on behalf of the 52-year-old AM's business

Customs employees are accused of abuse of duty, as they are suspected of having allowed this criminal activity to be carried out.

Meanwhile, the procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office of Saranda for further actions./ CNA
