Accident on the Gjirokastër-Kakavijë axis/ Policeman hits pedestrian, 71-year-old woman dies

A serious incident occurred this Friday evening on the Gjirokastër-Kakavijë axis.

It is learned that a 71-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle driven by a police officer.

It is learned that the victim is citizen KH.

The driver of the vehicle has been taken to the police station for further proceedings.

Police Announcement:  

At around 19:00, on the "Gjirokastër-Kakavije" road axis, in Grapsh, citizen AM, 55 years old, (police officer at DVKM Gjirokastër who was going to work) driving his personal vehicle, hit citizen KH, around 71 years old (pedestrian), who consequently lost her life at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was escorted to the Gjirokastra Local Police Directorate for further action.

The investigation team and the AMP are at the scene and, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, are carrying out actions to clarify the circumstances and legally document the case . /CNA
