US officials believe Israel has narrowed down the targets in its eventual response to Iran's attack last month, US network NBC reported, citing the possibility of targeting military and energy infrastructure.
The Middle East continues to be alarmed by the possible escalation of the war as Israel battles Iran-backed groups Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas - a Palestinian group designated as a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union - in Gaza.
Hezbollah, the militant group and political party that controls much of southern Lebanon, has been declared a terrorist organization by the United States, while the European Union has blacklisted only the armed wing, but not the party, which has seats in Parliament of Lebanon.
Israel has repeatedly said it will respond to Iran's October 1 attack, which was launched in retaliation for Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the killings of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders.
There are no signs that Israel will target nuclear sites, or carry out individual assassinations, NBC reported, citing US officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.
According to reports, Israel has yet to make a final decision on when and how to act.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah militants started a year ago, when Hezbollah started firing rockets into northern Israel, after the start of the war in Gaza.
Hezbollah said on Sunday it was fighting Israeli forces attempting to infiltrate the southern Lebanese village of Ramja.
The Israeli army, on the other hand, has said that it continues operations in the south of Lebanon to destroy the "terrorist infrastructure"./ REL
