Former President Donald Trump said Tuesday he will mount a third campaign for the White House, kicking off an early start in the race for the 2024 election. The announcement comes just a week after a disappointing showing by Republicans in the midterm elections. and will force the party to decide whether to embrace a candidate whose refusal to concede defeat in 2020 sparked an uprising and challenged American democracy.
