Elections/ Vote buying and influence in elections, two people arrested in North

The voting process for the local elections continues in North Macedonia. So far, the process has continued calmly and normally, while the Ministry of Interior has announced that two people have been arrested for vote buying and influencing the vote. It is also reported that five other people have been summoned to the Prilep police station in connection with the same case.

"Police officers from the Prilep Police Station detained two people from Krushevo for the criminal offense of "vote buying and influencing the vote". In connection with the same case, the following were also summoned to the Prilep police station: SA (28), MA (31), Sh.A. (40), DA (22) and Xh.A. (36), also from Krushevo, who are staying in Prilep. After the full documentation of the case, the appropriate legal complaint will be filed,"  the Ministry of Interior in North Macedonia said in a statement.

Voting centers will be open until 19:00. According to information, there are 309 candidates running for mayor and 576 candidates for council members. In the city of Skopje alone, 16 candidates are running for mayor. 1,832,415 voters are expected to vote in today's local elections. /CNA
