Thieves took 9 jewels from Napoleon's collection and fled on a scooter/ How did the robbery at the Louvre Museum happen?

The Louvre Museum in Paris, one of the most iconic cultural institutions in the world, has been robbed today. The news was confirmed on social media by France's Minister of Culture, Richida Dati.

According to French media, the incident occurred during the museum's opening hours. The thieves reportedly entered a building under renovation along the Seine River, gaining access to the targeted room, the Apollo Gallery.

After breaking the windows, two hooded men entered, while a third stood outside. The thieves stole nine pieces of jewelry from the collection of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Empress. After the robbery, which reportedly lasted less than 10 minutes, they fled on a scooter towards the A6 motorway.

The Louvre is the most visited museum in the world and houses many famous works of art and other valuable items. /CNA
