A 2-year-old boy has died as a result of high temperatures in Brazil, after he was left inside a school van as the driver and attendant forgot to drop him off at daycare.

The Daily Mail reports that the driver and his companion picked up 2-year-old Apollo Rodrigues at 7am at his home in San Paolo and forgot to drop him off at daycare. The child's dead body was discovered at 3:30 p.m., about 9 hours after the vehicle was locked, when the driver went to retrieve the van from the garage.

The driver, Flávio Robson, 45, and his assistant, Luciana Coelho, 44, who is also his wife, took 2-year-old Rodrigues to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Robson and Coelho were arrested on charges of manslaughter. They appeared before a judge who granted them temporary release pending their legal process.
