US President Donald Trump has reacted to the announcement by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin of a successful final test of a new nuclear-powered missile, saying it was an inappropriate announcement at such a time.
"It's inappropriate for Putin to say that. He should end the war in Ukraine. This war, which was supposed to last a week, will soon be entering its fourth year. That's what they should be doing instead of testing missiles," Trump told reporters from the presidential plane that is taking him to Japan, the second stop on his Asia tour after Malaysia.
The US president also reiterated that he would like to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump has not ruled out extending his Asian tour. He will be in Japan today and tomorrow and in South Korea on Wednesday and Thursday. /CNA
