Trump and Netanyahu meet at the White House today

US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are meeting at the White House today to discuss vital Middle East issues.

The talks between the leaders come after the US and Israel launched recent strikes against Iran.

On Sunday, Trump told reporters that one of the issues he expected to discuss with Netanyahu is perhaps a permanent deal with Iran.

Monday's meeting also comes as President Donald Trump pushes to end Israel's 21-month war against Hamas in Gaza amid the 12-day war between Israel and Iran.

The meeting between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could give new urgency to a US proposal for a ceasefire being discussed by Israel and Hamas.

The Associated Press reports that President Donald Trump also has a vision for a new Middle East, where he hopes other countries will join the Abraham Accords, a series of agreements normalizing relations between Arab countries and Israel, brokered during his first term./CNA
